Decision 2000/532/EC, Decision 2003/33/EC, Directive and 2010/75/EU

In the European Union:

Decision 2000/532/EC provides the framework for classifying wastes, including certain antimony-containing wastes, and may result in hazardous waste classification depending on composition and hazardous properties;

Decision 2003/33/EC establishes leaching acceptance criteria applicable to antimony concentrations in wastes destinated for landfill disposal;

Directive and 2010/75/EU provides the framework for controlling antimony emissions from waste incineration and certain industrial processes.

In California, Diantimony Trioxide is listed under Proposition 65, which may trigger obligations relating to environmental releases in addition to consumer exposure warnings.

Environmental management of antimony production increasingly focuses on controlling releases of antimony and naturally associated elements such as arsenic and lead, through emissions management, waste treatment and environmental monitoring.
